Many SEO experts who work  in internet marketing company think that article submission is a poor link building tactic. They think the links of article, which you had submitted, will be going to the article site and not your own site. The readers may or may not click the link to your own site. Most article sites are not trusted by the search engines so the links back to your own site will hold little weight.

In my opinion, article submission gives you one way links from relevant sites and also increases traffic.  There are many article submission sites which submit your article and also create variations of article after every 100 submissions, to avoid duplicate content.  It gives back linking to your site.

Besides all these, I would advice you to publish informative articles on your own website under resources section and market them on social media and press release sites etc. It is a great SEO tactic and the rewards can be plentiful.
